Ode to The Mushroom of Excitedness

A poem by David Hulbert

The mushrooms lie together
Waiting for tomorrow
They know not whether
To expect happiness or sorrow

Every year it's the same
At midnight the picker comes
Carefully he takes aim
With a pinch from his thumbs

The mushroom is so excited
Its life is now complete
Into the stocking it is invited
There satsumas it shall meet

And there was me thinking you didn't do drugs...

Drugs are bad, m'kay?

I was talking to my lovely girlfriend, Hannah, and was trying to think of a similie to do with excitedness. In all the confusion I could only think of "as excited as a mushroom".

Hannah said that was silly so I tried to dig myself a deeper hole. Here is proof that there is a similie (and personification) so popular that there is even poety(?!) about it.

The poem is released under the GPL so anyone can copy, edit or play with it.
